DMC 4 und Darksiders

Sodele, dann mal ran an den ersten Artikel der neuen Rubrik “Vergleich”. Wie bereits erwähnt handelt es sich um zwei Spiele des Genres Hack’n'Slay. Auch auf die Gfahr hin, dass ich mich zum Affen mache weil ich dieses Genre kurz erkläre, werde ich es trotzdem tun, … also das Erklären, nicht das zum-Affen-machen.
Hack’n'Slay ist die Art von Spielen wo der Fokus darauf liegt, den Feind, welcher in der Hundertschaft billiger kommt, möglichst schön in Szene gesetzt und mit Stil zu massakrieren.
Und das tun beide Spiele wirklich grafisch sehr schön. Während DMC mehr auf einen realitätsnahen Stil setzt, konzentriert sich Darksiders auf einen, man möchte fast sagen, Comic-Stil. Was einem gefällt ist Geschmackssache, jedoch kann man sicherlich beidem etwas abgewinnen.

Und nun zu den eigentlichen Spielen:
I. Die Charaktere:
Darksiders : Der Protagonist ist “Krieg”, einer der Vier Reiter der Apokalypse, geschaffen vom Tribunal, einer Macht die über Himmel und Hölle wacht, jedoch nur in Notfällen aktiv wird. Sein Job ist es, sobald das siebte Siegel gebrochen ist und das Armageddon losgeht mit seinen drei Kameraden alle zu bestrafen die es verdient haben, egal ob Mensch, Dämon oder Engel.
So stellt man sich einen Reiter der Apokalypse vor, wenn er auch ein bisschen zu philosophisch wird am Ende des Spiels, deshalb: 
DMC 4 : Nero: Das vielgehasste junge neue Blut, welches in die Franchise gepumpt wurde und Dante verdammt ähnlich sieht. Er ist ein junger Heißsporn, gesprochen vom englischen Synchronsprecher von Ichigo aus dem Bleach Anime, der einer Art Sekte als Ritter dient, die den Dämonen Sparda verehrt, welcher nebenbei Dante und Vergils Vater ist. (Es wird gemunkelt, dass Vergil Neros Vater ist, was auch dessen dämonische Kräfte erklären würde.)
Das oben genannte erklärt die Bewertung ganz gut,
deshalb: 
II. Die Story:
Darksiders : Das Armageddon ist losgegangen, jeodch nicht offiziel. Krieg ist jedoch, irrtümlicherweise, einfach mal in das Gemetzel eingestiegen und ist prompt dafür bestraft worden. Nun will er alles daran setzen, die zur Rechenschaft zu ziehen, die ihm die Scheiße eingebracht haben. Dabei findet er heraus, dass er nur ein ganz kleines Figürchen im großen Schachspiel der Mächte war, was ihm noch mehr stinkt Und kaum habt ihr das auch nach endlosen Stunden des Metzelns und Rätsel-Lösens rausgekriegt, endet das Spiel auch schon wieder mit einem gewaltigen Knall, der ganz klar “Fortsetzung folgt” schreit.
(Das ist nur ein grober Überblick, um wenigstens das Skelettgerüst aufzuzeichnen.) Aber dennoch:
DMC 4 : Auch DMC4 setzt auf eine ähnliche Geschichte, wobei hier der Aspekt der Liebe ganz klar im Vordergrund. Denn Neros erklärtes Ziel ist es seine, wie es scheint, Jugendliebe Kyrie vor den Fängen dieser mittlerweile total durchgeknallten Gruppe und ihrer noch durchgeknallteren Oberhäupter zu retten. Aber um die Fans zu besänftigen ließ Capcom auch Dante zwischenzeitlich mal seinen Todes-Tango aufführen. (Ansonsten hat die Handlung was von Bleach, zumindest bis zur Hueco-Mundo-Arc, was nicht zuletzt an den Parallelen der Charaktere Ichigo-Nero und Orihime-Kyrie liegt sondern auch an der Identität ihrer Synchronsprecher im Englischen.) Das ein oder andere neue wäre nett gewesen, deshalb:
III. Das Gameplay:
Wie bereits erwähnt setzen beide Spiele stark auf Kämpfe, wobei DMC wesentlich schneller und Darksiders bisweilen aussieht, als könnte Krieg vor lauter Kraft nicht mehr ausholen. Es ist jedoch bemerkenswert, dass auch in beiden Spielen regelmäßig Rätsel vorkommen, die wohl die inzwischen leicht abgestumpften grauen Zellen des Spielers reaktivieren sollen.
DMC 4 : DMC macht da eine Menge richtig und gestaltet sie nicht allzuschwer. Es geht meistens darum einen Kreisel, der auch als Waffe verwendet werden kann, von Punkt A nach Punkt B zu transportieren. Das hört sich jetzt eibtönig ist jedoch wesentlich komplizierter, wenn das Ding nur in eine Richtung pro Schlag bewegt werden kann und man nebenbei noch die Dämonenhorden zu bekämpfen hat. Jedoch wirkt das Ganze nie zu leicht oder zu schwer sondern bleibt stets fordernd. Ihr habt zwar ein Gebiet in dem ihr euch bewegen könnt, ansonsten ist das Spiel jedoch linear und ihr müsst weder zurückgehen noch habt ihr regelmäßig die Möglichkeit dazu. Als Belohnung für nidergemetzlete Feinde gibt es rote Kugeln, die ihr am Ende des Spiels, oder auch zwischenzeitlich, einsetzen könnt, um euren Charakter zu verbessern. Keine Sorge jedoch, alles was an Nero und Dante an Veränderungen vorgenommen wurde, hat der andere auch direkt.
Schnell und unkompliziert, deshalb:
Darksiders : Einer meiner größten Kritikpunkte, da es zu Beginn nur sporadisch Rätsel gibt, diese jedoch einfach nur zeitrauben, wiederholend und frustrierend sind. Bsp.:In einem Raum sind vier Statuen, eine der Statuen hält ein Schwert, die anderen Statuen sehen genauso aus, außer das ihnen ein Schwert fehlt. Alos gilt es drei Schwerter zu finden. Dafür müsst ihr in die Räume gehen, die sich hinter den Statuen befinden und sich ganz schnell zu einem Irrgarten ausweiten. Und im Laufe des Speiles nehmen die Kämpfe immer mehr ab, aber die Rätsel werden immer länger und immer nerviger. Bisweilen müsst ih vier oder fünf mal in ein und denselben Raum, nur um einen Schalter zu betätigen. Die Karte kann euch zwar helfen, ist aber in den meisten Fällen nicht mehr als obligatorische Dekoration. Das Spiel funktioniert im Sandbox.Prinzip, jedoch erhaltet ihr im Laufe des Spieles erst die Möglichkeit zu “Teleportation”. Das sieht dann so aus, dass ihr durch ein Niemansland latschen dürft nur um von A nach B zu gelangen. Sicherlich innovativ aber so umgesetzt, dass man sich über den Sinn doch wundern muss.
Was das ganze jedoch ein bisschen auflockert ist die Tatsache, dass ihr regelmäßig Kisten mit Splittern findet, um eure Gesundheit oder Zornesleiste aufzufüllen. Die Kisten sind auch farblich und formlich auseinander zu halten, was das ganze etwas einfacher macht.
Zuerst etwas eintönig, nachher nur noch nervig, deshalb:
IV. Die Kämpfe und ihr Leveling:
Darksiders : Hier erhaltet ihr pro getötetem Feind entweder blaue Seelen, welche ihr für Upgrades beim Dämonen Vulgrim verkaufen könnt; gelbe um Kriegs Zorn zu entfesseln, was ihm die Möglichkeit gibt, sich in seine, wenn auch später erworbene, Chaosform zu verwandeln, in der er zum alles vernichtenden Super-Dämon wird; und zum Schluss noch grüne Seelen, welche Krieg einen Teil seiner Gesundheit wiedergeben. Im Kampf könnt ihr auch jederzeit pausieren um ebenfalls bei Vulgrim erworbene Tränke oder sonstige Spezialitäten zu benutzen. Bedenkt jedoch das es eine Trageobergrenze pro Gegenstand gibt (Pustekucken also mit 99+X Tränken). Darüber hinaus wird eure Waffe stärker, je mehr ihr sie benutzt. Das heißt im Umkehrschluss, was ihr nicht benutzt, kann auch nicht viel. Euer Arsenal wird darüber hinaus auch regelmäßig aufgestockt, in dem Sinne, als dass ihr neue Waffen erhaltet, die notwendig sind um im Spiel weiter zu kommen(Aber auch hier keine Panik, ihr könnt jederzeit in ein Gebiet zurück, um dort nach den, eigentlich nicht zu übersehenden, Waffen zu suchen; oder einfach nur um Bluternte einzufahren).
Solide, aber auch repitativ mit der Zeit, dennoch:
DMC 4 : Waffen erhält nur Dante nach seinem Sieg über diverse Endgegner. Diese sind alle unterschiedlich und haben natürlich Stärken und Schwächen, was es einfacher macht, den persönlichen Favoriten zu küren. Ansonsten scheint Dante schwieriger zu beherrschen zu sein als Nero, was es Einsteigern sicherlich zu Beginn leichter machen wird ins Spiel zu finden und auch Veteranen eine Abwechselung bieten sollte.
Bei beiden Spielen könnt ihr während des Kampfes das Areal nicht verlassen, da dieses versieelt ist und sich erst nach Sieg oder Niederlage öffnet.

V. Musik:
Darksiders : Passend zur Entzeitstimmung ist die Musik den jeweiligen Orten angepasst wo ihr spielt. Es dominieren jedoch Elemente der Melancholie, Trauer und des Zornes in Kämpfen (woran das wohl liegt?!).
An manchen Stellen etwas zu melancholisch und einseitig, deshalb:
DMC 4 : Bei DMC geht es in gewohnter Weise weiter wie in den bisherigen Teilen. Während des Erkundes spielt eine zumeist instrumentale Musik im Hintergrund, welche sich in Kämpfen in einen meist schnellen Techno-Mix mit jeweils dem Boss entsprechenden Akzenten verwandelt
Es spielt fast immer die gleiche Musik im Kampf, was doch arg langweilig werden kann, deshalb:
Fazit :
Obwohl DMC 4 immerhin schon von 2008 ist, muss der altgediente Veteran sich vor der neuen Konkurrenz nicht verstecken. Im Gegenteil, er zeigt bisweilen sogar noch wo es langgeht was Gameplay, Charaktere und Spielfluss anbelangt. Zwar macht die Kamera regelmäßig ein paar Zicken, ansonsten jedoch überzeugt das Spiel im großen und ganzen. Deshalb gibt es von White Skull.
Das im Verhältnis relativ neue Darksiders, immerhin von 2010, macht auch eine Menge richtig und hätte von mir auch 8 Punkte erhalten, wäre da dieses Ungleichgewicht zwischen Kampf und Rätseln sowie die am Ende doch endlosen Rätsel. Deshalb gibt White Skull immerhin . Hoffentlich machen die Entwickler ein paar Sachen besser im für 2013 geplanten Nachfolger.

Über die Genre-Einteilung habe ich ja schon was im letzten Kommentar angemerkt.
Was ich wirklich schade finde, ist, dass die Grundlage des Artikels nur durch Spielevideos entstanden sind, anstatt durch eigenes Spielen. Das lässt die eigene Erfahrung in diesem Fall komplett außen vor. PaladinFenris[Kommentar zitieren]

DMC4 ist wirklich kultverdächtig… und schon für kleines Geld zu haben (unter Nice Price Nivau).
Trotz dass es “leider” auf Walkthrough’s beruht, stimmt die Analyse gut überein. Bei diesen Hack & Slay Genry bzw. bei den beiden spielen macht es ausnahmsweise kein großen Unterschied.
